Digital Entrepreneurship this semester has impacted me greatly. It has shifted my mindset on how I approach business and what it takes to be successful. Going into this class, I thought entrepreneurship was all about having a great idea and capitalizing on it. However, I have learned that there is much more to it. Entrepreneurship is about problem-solving, quick experimentation, and iterating off of those experiments.
Purpose was one of my favorite concepts I learned this semester. I have always considered what I am building, but never really why I am building it. Learning to start with the why has allowed me to think of ideas that hold more meaning for me.
Customer discovery was another big lesson I took away from this class. Through all of my blog posts and assignments, I have learned that you cannot assume someone will buy your product. You have to talk to your customers and get real feedback. I learned what customers really value, what they are willing to pay for, and what can be changed.
Learning to test your ideas was something I will take with me going forward. Instead of spending years trying to perfect something, it’s better to test your idea early on. You can learn what works and what doesn’t, and then improve your product.
Lastly, I learned a lot about marketing and branding. I have come to understand that how you display your idea is just as important as the idea. You need to be able to convey value and trust.
This class has allowed me to begin thinking like an entrepreneur. I now focus more on problem-solving, discovering my customers, and taking action. These are all things that will help me succeed in my future endeavors.
